Olympian Pursuits

A number of college students are taking a break from the academic track to compete for -- and, in some cases, against -- the United States at the Winter Olympic Games this month in Salt Lake City. Here's a sampling of some who are vying for medals:

Daniel J. Weinstein

Harvard University

Event: short-track speed skating, 5,000-meter skating relay

Major: psychology

Mr. Weinstein, a junior, was a member of the 5,000-meter skating relay team that won the 2001
