Ohio University's Engineering College Adopts Honor Code

Students and faculty members at Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering and Technology will gather this afternoon to adopt a new honor pledge, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

The agreement, which reads, “We members of the Russ College pledge to act with integrity and expect the same from each other,” was developed in response to a plagiarism scandal at the college, brought to light three years ago by a former graduate student. Subsequent investigations led the college to revoke one master’s degree and ask 22 alumni to submit rewritten theses. It also led to defamation suits brought by two faculty members who were accused of tolerating plagiarism. —Paula Wasley
