Ohio Governor Proposes Tuition Cap
Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio called last week for state lawmakers to increase spending on public colleges in exchange for the institutions' promise to hold down tuition. In his annual State of the State address, Mr. Strickland proposed giving colleges 5 percent more money next year and 2 percent more the year after. In order to receive the extra money, state colleges must keep tuition at current levels next year and raise tuition in following years by no more than 3 percent.
