Official of Governors' Group Moves to Education Dept.

A top official at the National Governors Association will join the U.S. Education Department next month to help the agency carry out the recommendations that are expected this summer from the federal Commission on the Future of Higher Education.

Kristin D. Conklin, a program director in the education division of the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices, will be a senior counselor to the under secretary of education. In that role, she will help create policies that
