Offer to New Historical Society Raises Hackles at Boston U.
Membership in the Historical Society topped 1,000 last month, but even before that, it had become clear that the recently founded group needed a new home.
Last year, Eugene Genovese and Elizabeth Fox-Genovese helped start the society as an alternative to groups, like the American Historical Association, that the Genoveses felt focused too much on politics and trendy scholarship. The two have run the society
