Obama's Possible Candidates for Education Secretary
President-elect Barack Obama has a wide array of contenders for education secretary.
If history is any guide, however, the choice will not be driven primarily by higher-education policy. Mr. Obama's nominee will be the ninth U.S. secretary of education, and nearly all of the previous eight were known more for their backgrounds at the elementary and secondary levels.
