Notre Dame Lawsuit Will Proceed
A federal appeals court ruled last month that a lawsuit against the University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Department of Education over the use of federal grant money to train Roman Catholic schoolteachers may proceed.
The lawsuit, filed in 2003 by the American Civil Liberties Union, contends that a $500,000 grant awarded to Notre Dame by the Education Department violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The grant was intended to help Notre Dame show other religious
