If you were to set about translating a tumultuous romantic epic, you could hardly choose a better collaborator than your spouse.
That, at least, has been the experience of Chris Baker and Pasuk Phongpaichit while working on The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen. Their book, issued by Silkworm Books, a Chiang Mai publishing house, and distributed by the University of Washington Press, is the first translation into English of the Thai literary classic.
