Not-So-Civil War Among Lincoln Scholars Includes Accusation of Plagiarism
Michael Burlingame has a problem with plagiarism. It seems as if every time he opens a new book on his specialty, he sniffs the stink of copier ink -- ironic, given that his scholarship focuses on the president known as "Honest Abe."
It's not hard to get into the Lincoln racket, he says, as long as you've got a photocopier and a scanner.
Mr. Burlingame, a historian at Connecticut College, has charged several Lincoln scholars with plagiarism in the past,
