Not Much Help for Needy Students in Proposed Budget for 2007
President's request would cut need-based programs and keep cap on Pell Grants
The budget request for the 2007 fiscal year that President Bush unveiled last week had little good news for financially needy students, particularly those who are not high academic achievers.
The spending plan would not provide any additional dollars to the federal grant and work-study programs that are designed to help students from low- and middle-income families to afford a college education. In
