North Dakota Finally Finds a Chancellor

The strange saga of North Dakota’s search for a temporary university chancellor is over. The state’s Board of Higher Education voted, 8 to 0, on Thursday to give the job to Eddie V. Dunn, the university system’s vice chancellor for strategic planning, the Associated Press reported. The vote occurred a day after Mr. Dunn said he was again interested in the job (The Chronicle, August 2). He and the other finalist had withdrawn, for different reasons, last week (The Chronicle, July 31).

Perhaps reflecting the struggle to hire for the job, and the circumstances surrounding the abrupt resignation of the previous chancellor (The Chronicle, July 3), the board said Mr. Dunn would be known as the chancellor, not the acting chancellor or the interim chancellor.
