Nonacademic Jobs for Ph.D.'s
To the Editor:
I read with great interest Elle Madison's demystification of hunting for a job outside of the ivory tower ("The Truth About the Nonacademic Job Search," Careers, November 4). I am one of those individuals who, with a Ph.D. in English, had to find work outside of academe — once it became clear that a job as a college instructor in American literature was not in the cards for me.
However, a few salient points ought be raised that Ms. Madison glosses over,
