Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Members Vote to Unionize at U. of Michigan
Faculty members off the tenure track in the University of Michigan system voted last week to create a union to represent 1,300 full- and part-time professors.
More than 80 percent of those who voted agreed to be represented by the Lecturers' Employee Organization, an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers. About half of the eligible faculty members at the university's three campuses cast ballots in the mail election. The new union includes full- and part-time lecturers,
