Nomination Is a Parting Shot From California's Departing Governor
California's departing governor, Gray Davis, isn't saying "hasta la vista" without trying to leave a last-minute imprint on the California State University System.
He did so by naming a controversial nominee to the system's Board of Trustees. The choice: Susan Meisenhelder, a former president of the California Faculty Association, who remains on the union's bargaining team.
The nomination is subject to confirmation by the State Senate, but nominees can serve for up to one year
