Nobel Prize in Physics Honors 3 Scholars for Creating a New State of Matter
The Nobel Prize in Physics this year honors three scientists who cooled and corralled clouds of atoms to such an extreme state that they formed an entirely new type of matter, named a Bose-Einstein Condensate.
Sometimes called a superatom, this state of matter involves thousands to millions of individual atoms all acting in a coordinated way.
