Nobel Laureates Win Meeting With Vice President, but Little Else
They have risen to the top ranks of science, and last month four Nobel laureates found themselves at a particularly lofty level: a private meeting at the White House with Vice President Richard B. Cheney.
The four met with Mr. Cheney to ask him to support increased federal financing for scientific research at a time when such government support is flattening out. It was a rare moment of face time between academic scientists and a sitting vice president.
