It took 143 years, but Wheaton College this month held a swing dance, the first such event in the history of the evangelical Christian institution in Illinois, and more than 1,000 people showed up to boogie down. Wheaton's Board of Trustees changed a set of rules nine months ago that prohibited all but square-dancing -- on campus or off -- by students and faculty members.
