Melissa Hart's commentary ("The Trouble With Twitter," The Chronicle Review, online edition, July 27) refers to a recent speech of mine at the University of Oregon with phrases like "backward-looking pessimism," my standing "small at the podium, as if defeated," and "a voice diminished by desperation."
