No-Confidence Measure Is Approved at U. of New Mexico at Gallup

Members of the Faculty Senate at the University of New Mexico at Gallup have voted, 36 to 19, to approve a resolution of no confidence in the institution’s executive director, Beth Miller, according to the Gallup Independent.

The vote, taken at a special meeting on Friday afternoon, came in the wake of discussions about possible budget cuts and layoffs on the campus, which was created in 1968 and serves as a community college. Declining enrollment in recent years has led to deficits at the institution.

Faculty members complained that Ms. Miller had failed to communicate adequately with them about the problems, a charge Ms. Miller denied. —Lawrence Biemiller
