Nicholls State Is Penalized for Player-Eligibility Violations in 3 Sports
Nicholls State University has been placed on four years' probation because of "gross academic fraud" and unethical conduct involving 28 athletes on the football, men's basketball, and women's volleyball teams, the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced last week.
The Louisiana institution had uncovered the violations during its own investigation and cooperated with the NCAA's inquiry, the Division I Committee on Infractions said.
