Newbury College President Finances Fellowships for Faculty Members

When Roy J. Nirschel became president of Newbury College a year ago, he decided that "it was a given I would be giving."

"Newbury has not had a philanthropic history, so I knew we had to gather some gifts, and I wanted to set an example."

Mr. Nirschel and his wife, Paula, established the Presidential Faculty Fellowships with a $5,000 donation. The first grants -- $2,000 for full-time faculty members and
