New Rule Proposed on Research Misdeeds
The U.S. Health and Human Services Department has proposed revised regulations governing how universities investigate and handle cases of research misconduct. The proposal would clarify some issues concerning whistle-blowers, among other changes.
The revised rule, published in the April 16 Federal Register, has been many years in the making. It would update an existing regulation that was approved in 1989 and amended in 1992.
