New Political Web Site Is Devoted to the Campus Crowd

The Web site Politico debuted a new page this month that promises to follow campaign issues important to the under-30 crowd.

In introducing what it is calling Campus Politico, the site’s editors said young voters were poised to play a greater role in the 2008 election than in any before it.

The site contains news stories about issues of particular importance to young voters, polling of youth, and what presidential campaigns are doing to try to appeal to this demographic.

Campus Politico has also established partnerships with student newspapers and will contain highlights of the news coming from campus reporters.

Student newspapers at Brandeis, Cornell, DePaul, New York, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt Universities and the Universities of California at Berkeley, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconsin at Madison, and Wisconsin at Oshkosh were among the first to sign on as 2008 Campus Politico partners, and more are being added.

In addition, the Web site features comments from James Kotecki, a recent graduate of Georgetown University who made a name for himself by offering video critiques of the presidential candidates’ YouTube offerings.
