New Policies for New Mothers
To the Editor:
Joseph Untener provides extremely practical advice to administrators and faculty members seeking to formulate or update maternity-leave policies ("Giving Birth to a Good Policy," The Academic Workplace, July 18). I'd like to add some information.
When crafting a maternity-leave policy, look at policies from colleges and universities that have been in the forefront in creating family-friendly campuses. The University of California at Berkeley is one example. While
