New Orleans Medical-School Professors and Students Try to Recover
For more than 1,000 medical students who were training in New Orleans, dreams of becoming doctors turned into nightmares when Hurricane Katrina flooded their schools, teaching hospitals, and homes, scattering patients and practices across the region.
Some have dropped out to help relief efforts, and others have transferred to other medical schools. But most are relocating to Houston and Baton Rouge, La., where Tulane University and Louisiana State University were attempting last week
