New Governor Wants U. of Cal. to Admit Top 4% of Students From Each High School
In his inaugural address last week, California's new Governor, Gray Davis, endorsed a hotly debated proposal to allow students to gain admission to the University of California in a new way: by graduating in the top 4 per cent of their high-school class.
The university's Board of Regents is scheduled to discuss the proposal in February and vote on it in March, as part of a broader plan that calls for revising
