New Chemical-Use Rules Less Onerous Than Feared
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued a key element of final regulations for how colleges and other institutions handle chemicals with potential terrorist uses. While colleges will have to quickly inventory their holdings of the chemicals, the new rules are less onerous than was widely feared.
A draft list of "chemicals of interest," released last spring, drew an outcry from some higher-education officials, who felt the new chemical-security rules would pose a huge burden
