New Bill Threatens NSF's Much-Disputed Fund for Computer Networks
A new Congressional session has brought a renewed effort to dismantle a much-disputed $60-million fund created to improve computer networks.
Rep. Lee Terry, a Republican from Nebraska, is the latest to challenge the fund, known as the Intellectual Infrastructure Fund. He has proposed a bill that would provide refunds to the thousands of Internet users who contributed to the pool through fees they paid to register Internet
