A child's alphabet reader on display at the Linen Hall Library here offers an early education in hatred. "A is for Armalite," a kind of assault rifle, "that sends them all running," it begins. It was produced by a militant faction of Republicans, a mostly Catholic movement that has worked to sever Northern Ireland's ties to Britain and reunite it with the Republic of Ireland to the south.
