Eric Wills's article on the National Collegiate Athletic Association's consideration of Native Americans as sports symbols and mascots falls short of the real issue, which is whether the NCAA will take the lead in promoting racial justice in intercollegiate sports and pass legislation banning the use of American Indians as sports mascots ("Pride or Prejudice?," The Chronicle, June 3). ...
