National U. Offers Tuition Break to Laid-Off California Teachers

With its enrollment growth slowed by military call-ups, National University is reaching out to a new pool of potential students that could be as large as 40,000: California teachers who will be laid off because of statewide budget cuts.

National, which is based in San Diego and has 28 other locations, is offering half-price tuition for all teachers who lose their jobs this year as a result of the state's budget crisis. University officials say the program, which will cover classes
