National Fraternity Told to Pay Nearly $1-Million in Beating of Pledge
A state jury has ordered a national fraternity to pay nearly $1-million to a University of Louisville student who was badly beaten during a hazing ritual.
Last month the jury awarded Shawn A. Blackston $931,428 in his case against Omega Psi Phi fraternity, a historically black organization. He was granted $750,000 in punitive damages and $181,428 for medical expenses, lost wages, and mental and physical suffering.
