National Academy Elects Fewer Women
The National Academy of Sciences announced last week the election of nine women as members — the smallest number inducted since 2001 — despite what academy leaders call a continuing effort to make sure that deserving women are not overlooked. In all, the academy elected 72 members and 18 foreign associates this year.
