Nashville's Aquinas College Decides to Drop Its Sports Teams
Officials at Tennessee's Aquinas College have decided to disband the institution's entire athletics program, which consists of men's baseball and basketball teams, at the end of this academic year. Aquinas is shifting its emphasis to awarding bachelor's degrees instead of associate degrees, but can't afford to similarly upgrade its athletics programs, said Sister Mary Evelyn Potts, the college's president.
