NYU and Its TA Union Reach Pact on a Contract
New York University and the union that represents teaching assistants there recently reached a contract settlement, the first ever for TA's at a private university.
Under the four-year deal, the university will raise stipends to a minimum of $15,000 a year and pay 100 percent of the health-insurance costs for graduate assistants.
Stipends at the university vary, and will continue to differ under the present agreement, but the average across the institution now is about $12,500.
