NSF Eliminates Cost Sharing
Capping years of discussion, the governing board of the National Science Foundation voted this month to eliminate most of the money colleges are required to provide toward research projects financed by the agency.
The change, effective immediately, means the agency will no longer require colleges to put their own dollars into solicited research, which the NSF finances after seeking applications on a particular topic. Colleges will still have to provide 1 percent of the research-grant
