NSF Director Focuses on Information Technology, Math and Science Education

Rita R. Colwell, the new director of the National Science Foundation, has made no secret of her agenda -- it's ambitious, multidisciplinary, and of a piece with the Clinton Administration's priorities.

In remarks to scientists and reporters since taking office in August, and in her first budget request to the White House, Ms. Colwell has emphasized:
