N.J. Professor Must Pay Legal Bills, Court Says

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled last month that the state is not required to pay the legal expenses of a professor at Montclair State University who was sued by a student over a grading dispute.

In a 5-to-2 decision, the court said the state had no obligation to indemnify the professor, Barbara Chasin, because she had ignored the advice of the state's Attorney General.
