NIH Opens Grants to Researcher Teams
The National Institutes of Health will begin allowing more than one principal investigator to apply for and receive its grants to collaborate on a single project. As a result, the agency says, it will stop compiling rankings of individual departments within academic institutions by NIH dollars received, a calculation that would become more complicated under the new system.
The biomedical-research agency says that, over all, the policy change recognizes that the studies it finances
