NIH Imposes Cap on Tuition Payments
The National Institutes of Health has issued a final rule to cap reimbursements to colleges for tuition and other costs for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. The decision will, in effect, shift training costs from the NIH to institutions, but will give them some flexibility in how the money is used.
The final version, which is similar to a draft released in May following a public-comment period, describes the change as a two-year pilot program that the NIH will evaluate.
