NIH Director Wants to Speed Delivery of Biomedical Discoveries to the Bedside
The National Institutes of Health will "turbocharge" its efforts in biomedical research by putting more emphasis and money into innovative, risky, interdisciplinary research that improves the clinical care of patients, its director, Elias A. Zerhouni, said last week.
The agency expects to spend about $2.1-billion on the new approach over the next six years.
