NIH Clinical-Research Program Trims Money for Universities
Faced with a flat budget, the National Institutes of Health has cut back several multimillion-dollar awards it was expected to give each of 14 academic institutions this year as part of a bold new program to invigorate clinical research. Some of the cuts were severe.
"Many of us were shocked" by the award levels because they were so much lower than what the NIH originally indicated it might provide, said Harry P. Selker, director of the clinical-research program at Tufts
