NCAA and U. of Mississippi Face Debate on Confederate Battle Flag
While the Civil War has been over for 135 years, the struggle over the Confederate battle flag rages on. And college sports has become a prominent battlefield.
Despite the pleas of civil-rights groups, the National Collegiate Athletic Association last month decided to get out of the debate over the flag. Shortly thereafter, the University of Mississippi won court backing for its campaign to keep the flag out of its football stadium.
