NCAA Yields to Religious Colleges on Game Scheduling

Bowing to a campaign by religious colleges, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has agreed to allow colleges to avoid playing championship games on certain days for religious reasons.

The action reverses a unanimous decision in April by the Board of Directors of the association's Division I to eliminate a requirement that colleges' policies against Sunday competition be accommodated. A group
