NCAA Puts Georgia Tech and the U. of South Carolina on Probation for Violations of Academic Rules
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has placed the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of South Carolina at Columbia on probation for major violations of academic rules.
In November the NCAA put Georgia Tech on probation for two years and stripped the institution of several scholarships after discovering that academic officials had inadvertently allowed 17 ineligible athletes to compete over a six-year period.
