NCAA Punishes Villanova U. for Rules Violations

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has put Villanova University on probation for the next two years as punishment for a series of violations of recruiting rules by coaches of the men's basketball team. None of the violations were egregious, according to an NCAA announcement last month, but together they were "significant and represented an attempt to gain a recruiting advantage."
