NCAA Panel Turns Down Proposal to Redefine Amateurism
One of the top governing boards of the National Collegiate Athletic Association took action this month on a broad range of issues, including raising academic standards, scrapping limits on the amount of money athletes can earn from jobs, and tightening the requirements for membership in the top division of football, while essentially leaving intact the association's definition of amateur athletic status.
