NCAA Imposes 'Death Penalty' on a Team for the First Time in 18 Years
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has given the "death penalty" to MacMurray College's men's tennis team, banning the squad from competition for two years and from postseason play for another two years, for giving improper scholarships to players. This is the first time the NCAA has levied its ultimate punishment on a team since 1987, and the first time ever involving a team in Division III.
