NCAA Gives Minnesota 4-Year Probation for Academic Fraud
The banners came down last week in the basketball gymnasium at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Gone are the pennants from the 1997 men's Final Four and the 1998 National Invitation Tournament championship.
Both triumphs were expunged by the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I Committee on Infractions, which last week issued its findings in the academic-fraud scandal that has plagued Minnesota for the past two years.
