NCAA Edges Closer to Forcing Teams Out of Its Top Division
A top governing board of the National Collegiate Athletic Association gave preliminary approval last week to a plan to toughen membership requirements for Division I-A, the highest competitive level in the association.
The Division I Management Council, meeting in Indianapolis, also put off a controversial plan to limit the number of players that men's basketball teams may recruit in any single year and softened penalties for athletes who have played on professional teams
